It is highly important to train your dog or puppy so that it conforms to the rule of the house. However, forcing discipline on a dog or puppy can often have negative results. Bitter Taste Deterrents: Dogs and especially teething puppies have an extremely bad habit of chewing at places (or things) where they shouldn't. This can become a permanent habit if pet owners do not intervene. The best way to restrain your dog or puppy from doing it is by using a bitter taste deterrent.

A bitter taste deterrent is a non-toxic compound which can be applied on things most likely to attract the attention of the dog or pup. Once applied, the dog would get an extremely revolting taste in its mouth. If not immediately then over a period of time it would deter your dog/pup to come near that thing. It's an excellent aid in training your dog/pup to rein in its teeth.

Clickers: Clickers are a great means of communicating with your dog/puppy. The best part is that the response is almost spontaneous and the dog/puppy knows exactly what the praise was for. This allows it to do the same thing time and again in order to evoke more praise. When mixed with training the dog for specific habits the end result could be a perfectly trained dog.

Silent Dog Whistles: These whistles emit noise which is below the range of human listening but can be picked up easily by dogs. The sub-audible level of the whistle doesn't hurt the dog's ears much but works effectively as a dog training aid. These can be used to train dogs and pups by attracting their attention.

Training Bells: This aid is perfect if you want your dog to learn how to inform you when Mother Nature gives a call. Even otherwise, you would not like your dog/puppy to pee or excrete inside the house. Hence, you can make use of training bells to help them train in going outside for their natural calls. But do remember, the puppy/dog won't take to it spontaneously and would require some practice before it becomes proficient in its use.

Electronic dog collars: This is the most controversial and yet effective means of training a dog. The principle behind this device is that of deterrence. The electronic dog collar comes with a small device which administers small electronic shocks to the dog. The device is operated through remote and can be used to train dogs in things which are not supposed to be done.
