| Training Your Dog for Social Behavior Is a Must |
|
A dog may be your best friend but this best friend needs training if you want to make him socially acceptable. You obviously can’t take your dog to public places if you have not taught him how to behave. Would you like if someone walks up to you only to tell you that your dog is not well bred? Certainly not. We all want our dogs to be the most loved and adored by one and all. If you really want your dog to adapt to the social frame that you live in, it is imperative that you impart him appropriate social behavior training. You need to teach your dog how he is expected to behave under various circumstances. Certain key areas that come under the scanner of social behavior training have been identified. You should train your dog in each of these areas to ensure that he does not leave you embarrassed anytime. Think of a situation where you haves guests at your place and your dog just refuses to stop barking. Even worse your dog bites one of your guests or behaves in the most annoying manner. You are not just going to be thoroughly embarrassed but you have also assured yourself that you won’t have the same guests again. Now this can be a good way of getting rid of unwanted guests. On a more serious note, it is important to give your dog adequate training to avoid such situations. Gone are the days when the dog was a mere gatekeeper and was supposed to be at home all the time. Today this faithful animal accompanies you everywhere. Whether you are heading to nearby park for a jog or going out eating to your favorite restaurant, you are likely to have this companion. When you are making your dog such an important part of your social life, it is important that you make him apt enough for the same. Having your dog bark and run around the whole restaurant can be quite embarrassing. And even worse you may not be allowed a second entry into the restaurant. Or your dog could be the one making people run in the park than they jogging by themselves. Thus social behavior training for your dog is a must. For social behavior training, it is important hat you clearly define the criterion for acceptable and unacceptable behavior and let your dog know of it. Each time your dog does something wrong, make it loud and clear. Similarly whenever your dog is doing something that is acceptable, make that clear too. Also make sure that you unintentionally do not reward any unwanted behavior of your dog. Remember, the way your dog behaves socially depends more on you than on the dog himself. |
