While dog owners need not think too much when buying disposable dog diapers, they need to pay close attention when buying reusable ones. Following are the things which they should keep in mind when on a shopping trip:

* Reusable dog diapers should be either fully adjustable or perfectly suited to the size of your dog and remains in the same position all the time. Too tight can be a cause of discomfort for your dog while too lose diapers can create a mess in the house (instead of containing it). Hence, choose the right sized diaper for your dog.

* The material used for making them should be both lightweight as well as breathable. This would prevent your dog from getting overheated.

* They should have an arrangement (like Velcro flaps) for attaching additional diaper garments during serous causes of urination or during seasonal heavy flows.

* Do not buy them thinking that they would hold your dog's faeces. All types of dog diapers are not meant for holding solid dog waste.

How to Clean Usable Dog Diapers?
Reusable dog diapers need to be machine washed. Preset the machine to gentle wash and allow it to complete one cycle. Do not use the machine's drier as it can crack open the protective coating. Instead, simply hang them on a clothes-line for drip-drying. A bit of sunning would also disinfect them. However, avoid direct contact to heat as the waterproof material would get destroyed.
