If you are a dog lover then you probably have to put up your dog shedding its hair. It is part of the trials and joys of owning a pet dog. This may become bothersome in case the breed you own is susceptible to shedding hair. There are ways and means by which you can control or manage shedding of pet dog hair. The first thing that you have to do is to comb or brush the dog’s hair on a regular basis. Your dog’s hair may need to be brushed daily, once a week or once in a while. This would depend a lot on the breed that you own, the length of the coat and the season. Certain breeds shed hair throughout the year, whereas other breeds shed hair seasonally especially during the winters. You should start brushing your dog’s hair from the time it is a puppy. Brushing your dog’s hair keeps molting in check and it is a great time for you to bond with your pet. Excessive shedding of hair may be a symptom of other problem. Make sure that the dog’s diet is complete with all essential nutrients, minerals and rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. There are a number of vitamin supplements available at pet stores and pharmacies. Feeding your pet a vitamin supplement will help to reduce molting and give it a shiny thick coat. Sometimes fleas, ringworm, or any other topical infection may result in excessive molting. If you feel that, your dog is shedding a lot of hair, take it to the vet for a thorough physical examination to rule out skin infections and to determine other possible causes. Make sure that your furniture is properly upholstered. In that case, if the dog does shed hair on your favorite sofa, you will be able to clean up after it without a problem. |
