How to Care for Your Dog in Summers?
Summer is the season of ultimate enjoyment for all of us. However, the sunny days and the extreme heat of the season can be a source of discomfort for your pet dog. This is because it is not built in a manner which can help it withstand extreme temperatures. Hence, you have to take care of a few things in order to keep your dog away from any physical harm. Some of the things that you can do are as follows:

* Never leave your pet dog under the sun. Keep it within the doors, well protected from the heat and sun. Do not intend to play anything outside with it till it’s hot and sunny. Also, ensure that the dog doesn’t over exert itself in any manner. Hence, you can stop dreaming about playing ‘fetch’ with your dog for the hot summer season.

* Keep a look out for signs of heat stress. The symptoms of a heat attack could include heavy panting, a quick heartbeat, fever, glazed eyes, excessive thirst, lethargy, restlessness, profuse salivation, vomiting, lack of coordination, a deep red or purple tongue, dizziness, and/or unconsciousness.

* Make sure that your pet dog as ample amount of cool fresh water to drink. This will stop its body temperature from shooting up.

* If you have a pool inside your home then do not leave your dog anywhere near it unattended. If it takes a swim along with you then clean up all the chlorine from its body after the dip. This will keep its fur clean and healthy.

* On a daily basis check the coat of your pet dog for ticks and fleas. Consult a vet if you find such an infestation. Also, keep an eye on the surroundings places where your dog lazes around. Watch out for those insects and animals that could pose a risk to it.

* If you are taking your dog on a vacation with you then do not allow it to hang out of the window of your moving car. Though the dog may like the wind striking its face, anything could hurt it. Further, never carry your dog in the back of your pick-up truck, unless someone else is with it. If it is left unattended, it might jump-off or fall out of the truck without anybody noticing it.

* Make it a point that you do not leave your pet dog inside the car at any place during your journey. The temperature inside your locked car will definitely shoot up and if you have you’re your dog inside, then this will have an adverse impact on the health of your dog. It may definitely result in heat stroke and/or death due to asphyxiation.
