A Comfortable Shelter
Just like you would want to come back to a cozy little home to spend your night in, so would your dog. Make sure that it too has a comfortable little corner of its own, something which is out of the way of everything that is dangerous. While it may be a heart-warming idea to allow your dog to sleep in the same bed as you do, the fact is that each one requires its own distinct private space.

Safety from Outside Threats
While the dog can protect itself, there are some things from which you need to protect it. These can be things like deadly diseases, elements outside the house and the local canine laws. Do the following in order to protect your dog from such threats:-
* Keep your dog off the property of others. In fact, whenever you take it out keep it on a leash.
* Abide by your local canine laws. Get your dog licensed. Also get it vaccinated for rabies.
* Put a collar around your dog’s neck. It should have an ID tag (which states your name, address, and telephone number) attached to it. This would help if your dog gets lost.
* Protect it from all forms of diseases. Get it properly vaccinated. Even otherwise, take care of its health by regularly taking it to the vet.
Grooming of Your Dog
Dogs, just like humans, are social animals. Hence, they need to learn the rules of living within a community. You can do this to your dog by properly grooming its behavior towards the things around it. For this purpose, you can either enroll your dog in training classes or undertake the responsibility of its training at home. Keep in mind that you will still be its boss and that the position would be non-negotiable.
If you accomplish the above mentioned objectives, there can be no denying of the fact that you will share a long-lasting, healthy relationship with your dog.
