Halloween Safety Tips for Your Pets
Festivals like Halloween are occasions when you need to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of your pet. On such occasions they should not be left outside or else they might become mute victims of some vicious pranks. You can protect them by shifting them inside. The basement, laundry room or garage could be an ideal place for one night.

If you want to keep your pet inside your house then you need to ensure that it stays away from some harmful things. One such extremely harmful thing can be candy. Candy may be visually appealing and tasty, but it can surely harm your pet. The artificial sweetener xylitol found in candy and chewing gum can be extremely harmful. Also, the cellophane wrappers or the aluminum foil could be equally dangerous. They can cause obstruction in the digestive tract.

However, if you want to treat your pet just like you have treated others then you can go to the pet supply store and buy some tasty pet snacks for it. Now even the pet will have something to feast upon, just like every body else. But if by any chance your pet did end tasting that which wasn’t meant for it, you should immediately take your pet to the veterinarian.

Further, you should avoid putting up any fancy decorative items that can cause harm to your pet. Your pet might take a liking towards them and end up eating them. If you really want to put them up then make sure that they are out of your pet’s reach. One such dangerous decorative item could be the fake, rubbery spider web that can be stretched across the window. If your pet accidentally eats it up it can suffer from life threatening obstruction of the intestinal passage. The same can be true of other Halloween decorations. Hence, you should keep your pet away from them.

The most enjoyable thing about the occasion of Halloween is the costumes that one wears. They can be the most enjoyable part of the festival. However, keep the idea of dressing up only to yourself. Do not even think about dressing up your pet for that Halloween photo shoot. Pets might not feel all that comfortable inside Halloween costumes secured with rubber bands and it is best that they are kept away from them.

During the time of trick-or-treat, it is best that you keep your pet inside the house, possible in a separate room. Even the best of social dogs can get snappy on seeing unfamiliar figures dressed in weird looking costumes. This can psychologically stress them out and they might attempt to run out of the house. Hence, you should bolt the doors and windows as well.
