Confident
Confident dogs usually display no signs of fear and anxiety. Dogs are usually their confident best in familiar environments. A confident dog shows some of the following signs.

* Is firm on the ground, no shivering
* Head held high
* Bright and playful eyes
* Mouth may be slightly open
* The tail is usually in a lose hanging position

Happy and playful

* Front legs are stretched forward
* Head is held high

Submissive
When in a submissive mood, dogs tend to act extremely gentle and meet. Submissive dogs may show one or more of the following signs.

* May roll down on the floor with an exposed belly
* Head is held down
* Ears are not perked up but flat
* Tail is low but never tucked
* May sniff the ground
* Lick another dog or person

Anxious
Any changes in the extremely environment may make your dog anxious. Anxious dogs may act partly submissive. Check out for the following signs to know if your dog is anxious.

* Standing in a tense position
* Ears are partially rolled towards the back
* Head is down
* Occasional shuddering
* Tail is low and could be tucked
* Slight whimpering or moaning
* May show aggressive behavior
* May growl

Fearful
If your dog is scared of some thing, he may show traits that convey both submission and anxiousness. Try to look for the source of fright and avoid the same. A fearful dog may exhibit one of the following traits.

* Tense posture
* Stands low to the ground
* Ears are flat back
* Narrow eyes
* Try to avoid eye contact
* Slight trembling
* Tail is between the legs
* Instant urination or defecation
* May whine or growl
* May show teeth as a defense tactic

Dominant
There are quite a number of dog breeds that show signs of dominant behavior. If your dog is beginning to get dominant or assertive, then do not try to control him. Avoid direct eye contact with the dog and let the situation calm slowly. Dogs with dominant behavior could be a serious threat. Here are some signs exhibited by dogs with a dominant streak.

* May lean forward slightly
* Ears are up
* Very alert and agile

Aggressive
Dogs with aggressive behavior should not be considered as pets. These dogs tend to have their way in almost everything. If your dog turns aggressive, then you could consult a professional trainer to control his behavior. An aggressive dog shows some of the following signs.

* Head straight and up
* Tail is absolutely straight
