Chow dogs are a very difficult breed to train. These dogs require a lot of training to be able to live in a family. If not trained properly, these dogs will give their owners a very tough time.

The origin of this breed of  dogs can be traced back to centuries ago, in China. The actual name of this breed is chow-chow. The breed is very agile and has a strong sense of smell. As a result these dogs were used very extensively as hunting dogs in ancient times.

Chow puppies can be easily identified by their distinctive appearance. There are two types of dogs in this breed. One has a short coat and the other has a long and hairy coat. The puppies are available in various colors or combination of colors. Color combination ranges from black and blue to red and black or fawn and blue.

One of the very distinctive features of this breed is that it has tongues that are a combination of black and blue color.

It is very important to groom these dogs regularly. If left alone, without proper care and attention, dogs of this breed turn aggressive and rebel against the owners. It is a good idea to check, when buying a dog of this breed, whether basic training has been provided to the dog or not. If training has not been provided, then you may have to arrange for training on your own.

Chow dogs need time to get accustomed with their position in a family environment as a pet dog. They are extremely wary of unfamiliar faces. Usually, they happen to be quiet but they bark loudly when they are working as watch dogs.

Their health is something which you should be careful about. These dogs should be fed properly and potty trained from a very young age.
