About the Boxer Breed of Dog
There are a number of breeds that are good as guard dogs. One of the most admired of such breeds is the Boxer. Among its many desirable traits, one is that it is a very affectionate and loyal animal that responds very well towards the family and its members. If required however, the Boxer can guard people under its charge very ferociously, even with its life.

The boxer is of muscular, athletic and square build and has a powerful and shiny coat of short hair. It s a spirited and playful breed and is open to training, although it can be stubborn and sneaky at times. It is a pleasure to watch this majestic breed at play. They are full of energy and need lots of exercise. In case they are denied exercise and kept restrained indoors, these dogs may develop behavioral problems.

Like all other such guard dogs, a Boxer has to be professionally trained so that its inherent traits are channelized in the right direction. Without professional training, a boxer may not become a very good guard dog. There are a number of professional training agencies that undertake to train your boxer from a very young age, to become a guard dog.

Boxers will show great loyalty and affection towards the master and members of the family. In return for loyalty, they need companionship and love. Boxers possess very endearing manners. They are reserved towards strangers at first. However if they get to know you, they will welcome you in a very outgoing manner.

Although the average life expectance of a boxer is between 11 to 14 years, these dogs tend to suffer from certain health problems. Heart problems, skin allergies and hip dysplasia are certain health problems that animals of this towards which animals of this breed are susceptible.
