Not Recognizing Obesity

Promoting bad behavior
If you allow you little pup to nip or bite once in a while, you are on your way to encouraging bad behavior. Your little pup will continue to do this even when he grows up and becomes an ill mannered dog.

Inadequate cleaning
Your dog has littered in a corner of the house. Make sure that you clean the area effectively enough. Inadequate cleaning leaves organic spots, which give dog the signal that it is okay to mess in the same place again.

Changing the rules
You should set well defined rules for your pet. If you allow your pet to jump on the couch when you are alone and not when your friends are around, you are simply confusing your pet. So, make sure that you be consistent with the rules you have set.

Offering excessive treats
Treats certainly work as the best motivating factor for your pet. But offering too many treats to your dog will only spoil him. Besides, excessive treats can only lead to weight gain.

Lack of enough socializing
Your dog should be offered ample opportunities to socialize. Taking your dog for social outings will only take away any kind of fear or apprehensions. Besides, it will make your pet more social and boost his confidence as well.

Keeping your dog idle
An idle mind is a devil's place. This holds true for your pet dog too. Don't keep your pet dog bored. Instead, try to keep him as busy as possible. Use interactive toys or stuffable toys to keep your pet occupied. You will notice the difference this can make to your pet's behavior.

Extremely high expectations
Many pet owners expect their dog to turn into a gentleman overnight. Every dog has his own ability to catch up with the training being imparted. So, just because your neighbor's pet was quick with his training need not mean that your pet should catch up fast too.

Insufficient exercise
Exercise is more important for your pet than you think. Dogs are a storehouse of energy. This energy can be productively utilized by offering ample exercise to your pet.
