Most dog lovers get mates for their dogs with the best of intentions. They are sincere and want healthy pups. They are concerned about the ethics and study the history and lineage of the prospective mate. There are however, breeders who are looking for making money. Some of these breeders are unscrupulous and may blow caution and ethics to the wind.
If you are interested in getting your dog mated, then look for a responsible and ethical breeder. Ask the breeder to show you certification that authenticates the dog’s breed and proves that the prospective mate is in a good state of health. You should make sure that the biological ages of both the animals are appropriate for mating. If you are thinking of cross breeding your dog with another breed then consult your vet about the traits and characteristics of both breeds and seek advice on suitability of the mates.
Once the mating is over, then take the bitch to the vet for a checkup after three weeks.
Finding a suitable mate for your pet dog is something that you should think over very carefully. It is not an easy task, especially if you are a dog lover.
