Shelter
A proper home for your dog is a must. His own personal living area must be able to accommodate him comfortably. Dedicate a small area of your house for your dog. Dogs are animals who usually love to live in family units. Therefore, they can not be left secluded. Designate a kennel, crate or bed for your dog. Once you fix a particular space for your dog, he would know his boundaries and try to remain there. Also, it is important that you demarcate the boundaries. Teach him which particular areas of the house he is supposed to stay away from and which are the areas that he can enter in to.
Food
The food not only has to taste good but has to be capable of providing him adequate nutrition. Once you have settled down on giving him one particular type of diet, make a note of his initial response. Remember, any new diet routine has to be initiated gradually. Apart from food, make sure that you have some provision in the house that makes fresh and clean water available to your dog all throughout the day.
Maintenance and Nurturing
In order to have a well behaved pet, appropriate training and grooming is very important. You will have to ensure that you train your dog well so that he is not a wild but a mild animal that is fun to be with. Another thing that is very important is the maintenance of the human-animal bon. You actually have to be in love with your pet to be able to make him your genuine companion. Remember, he needs your love and attention and you have to make sure that you provide ample of both.
