* Get ready to spend. There might be a lot of expense that you incur while taking care of these pets. Visits to the vet, periodic vaccinations, dog food, the cost of a trainer and accessories for your dog are just a few things on which you will have to spend.

* Adopt an older of fully-grown up dog if you do not have the time to train or housebreak a dog. The behavior of a grown up dog is not as unpredictable as that of a puppy and this will save you time, effort and money.

* Hire a professional trainer to train dogs if you want to keep a puppy and have no time to train it. You are just new to dog keeping and thus need a proper training from the expert to handle dogs. Engage the services of a  proficient trainer to train your new canine friend.

* You must learn about feeding a dog. The type of foods that you can feed and the frequency at which you should feed your dog are some of the things that you should know about.
