Vaccines for Your Labrador Dog
Vaccination is one of the most important steps that you need to ensure the good health of your Labrador dog.  It is very simple to get your dog vaccinated. The vet vaccinates the puppy against the various diseases by which it can be affected. The vet also recommends further booster shots as per a schedule that is meant for the Labrador breed of dogs.

A number of Labrador owners take the initial vaccination schedules and the recommended booster shots for granted. As a proud owner of one of the best breeds of dogs, you should not make the same mistake.

As per the advice of canine health experts, a newborn puppy has limited immunity against certain diseases. The immunity is over within a few weeks from the time that the puppy is weaned away from its mother’s milk.  This immunity needs to be extended for the dog’s life. The only way to do that is to have your puppy vaccinated against diseases such as Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus and canine hepatitis virus.

This is just indicative of the vaccinations that your Labrador needs. Your vet can provide you with a complete idea. There are two types of vaccinations that your pup requires. The first type is known as the core vaccines. This category contains vaccines that provide immunity against the diseases mentioned above. The second type is the non-core vaccinations and consists of diseases such as kennel cough.

A vaccine consists of either dead or weakened virus of the disease from which protection is sought. Once the vaccine is injected or given orally, the body forms anti-bodies against the disease and in this manner, provides the puppy with immunity from the disease.

Remember that getting a dog vaccinated is not recommended just for the dog’s sake. It is also required to keep you and your family members safe from any infectious and dangerous disease that can be picked up contact with a pet dog.
