Beware of Common Dog Diseases
Dogs are loyal companion of man. However, they are speechless and therefore it is the responsibility of their masters to take care of them and understand their problems. The foremost thing is to notice indications by them for ill-health and take steps to cure them.

Skin allergies are quite common in dogs and can be noticed when your dog chews, scratches or bites his skin quite frequently. Licking of legs, belly area and feet, red patches, flaky skin and rubbing of head are some other indications of skin allergies in dogs. Golden retrievers, Dalmatians, Poodles, Terriers and Boxers are the dog breeds that are more prone to skin allergies. These can be treated by keeping away from the food item or any dog cosmetic which is the reason for your dog’s skin allergy.

Another common disease in dogs is urinary infection. When bacteria gains entry into the dog’s urinary tract, it can cause urinary infection. This is more common in female dogs as compared to male dogs. Fever, urinating at unsuitable place, foul smell in urine, blood in urine, lethargy, and straining at the time of urine are some of the indications of urinary infection in dogs.

Furthermore, inflammation and stiffness of joints and pain in joints may cause your dog to be reluctant to indulge in any physical activity like climbing staircases, getting into the car and others. You may also find him licking his affected joints. All these are the signs of arthritis. Though your dog may not like it, but some movement of joints is necessary for him to avert the further worsening of this disease.   

Also, when the body tissue of dog gets torn, it causes laceration. However, minor laceration affects only the tissue. Nonetheless, serious injuries can extend to tendons and muscles. So, it is advisable to take your pet to the vet immediately for evaluation and wound should be covered to avoid it from worsening even more.   

Last but not least, stomach inflammation or gastritis is another common disease that may afflict dogs. Usually, stomach inflammation leads to a little higher temperature. So if you suspect your dog to have a stomach inflammation, you better take its temperature. Also, you may find your dog uninterested in things happening around him.

Diarrhea and vomiting are some other indications of stomach inflammation in a dog. Make sure that your dog is well-hydrated at this time. You may also provide him with Pepto Bismol, which is a mild medication to cure stomach inflammation in dogs.

Hence, these are a few common diseases that dogs usually suffer from. However, if you are cautious, your dog will stay healthy and fight these diseases strongly.  So, just keep an eye on your canine companion and ensure him the best health possible.
