Testing your dog's sugar levels alone is not enough. You need to keep a track of the same. You also need to keep a record of your dog's insulin levels, his eating habits and behavior. Give your dog the right diet
Diet can play an important role in treating diabetes in your dog. Make sure that you give your dog a high fiber diet. Also try to cut down on the amount of carbohydrates and fats present in his diet. Make your dog exercise
Exercising not just help control sugar levels in humans but in dogs as well. Thus, it is important that you give your dog some amount of physical activity each day. You could probably take your dog out for a walk or play with him.

Look for vitamin supplements
There are certain vitamin and mineral supplements that can help control the blood sugar levels in your pet. Some of the most commonly recommended vitamins for treating diabetes in dogs include Vitamins B, C and the mineral chromium. You could ask your vet to recommend the same for your pet.

Ensure routine tests
Routine blood tests are a must to ensure that your dog has the specified blood sugar levels. So, make sure that you take your dog to the vet for periodic checkups.
